Day 55 – Lazy wet Sunday

Journey: Hunehals Borg – Gothenburg – Aspeberget Rock Carvings

I was not for getting up this morning and so we had a very lazy Sunday morning…I could have had a swim in the lake but just getting dressed was hard enough. I think my body is finally suggesting we stop and rest…I’ve got another acro festival in 8 days so I’m hoping it can last out until then.

Another drizzly day meant coats on and dashing about Gothenburg in between the showers. Had a lovely explore of Haga area with little shops and cafes, the harbour and Kings park, though we have yet to have Fika (Swedish word for coffee and cake). By the afternoon I was tired again so stayed with the pups in the van while Mark went to a museum exhibition on ocean plastics which he enjoyed. As it was international chocolate day he came home with two bars and news of an epic vegan pizza place he had found… It was so yummy!! ðŸ˜‹

We then drove on to Aspeberget Rock Carvings, which are from the bronze age, the oldest being over 3000 years old. Some were in amazing condition and you could clearly see their depiction of bulls, people, dance, horses and there are approximately 10,000 boats carved into the stones in this area. Hoping to go to a second site tomorrow. I should say the drives have been stunning, especially over the bridges and the roads are almost empty.
